Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, popularly referred to as Ashanti was born on 13 October 1980 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is a US singer songwriter. Ashanti is a teen performer, songwriter and actress from the United States was signed by Murder Inc. Records to release her debut album in 2002. In the same year, she made an appearance on Fat Joe's What's Luv? Also, she was featured on Fat Joe's song What's Luv?! and Ja Rules track Always on Time and Ja Rules track Always On Time, both of which became huge hit songs. The moment she dropped her single, the single, What's Luv which ranked at the second spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and Foolish at #1 and Foolish as her debut single, she became the first female to reach this feat. It was the first female artist to hold the Top two spots on the Billboard Hot 100 in America With Foolish as number one and What's Love? Tina Douglas, her mother was a former dance teacher. Ken-Kaide Douglas is her father. The Kenashia Shai Douglas family is their sister. She is the oldest.
